The Business of Giving Back
Doing business isn’t always about the monetary bottom line, especially during the holiday season, a time of joy for many, but also a time of need, too. At Social Clover Marketing, we’re huge proponents of giving back and we encourage you to consider adding it to your holiday “to-do” list. Here are some suggestions close to our heart to get you started…
- The Children’s Home of Reading: the local nonprofit offers mental and behavioral health and education services to help care for at-risk children, youth and their families. Their mission? Caring for the needs of children and families in crisis and preparing them for success in life, thereby strengthening the quality of life in the communities they serve. How can you help? Volunteers are often needed for assorted events and projects, as are monetary donations. Visit buildingkidslives.org to learn more.
- John Paul II Center: the values-based organization in Shillington encourages children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to explore their purpose and to reach for goals through unique special education and social programming. Those interested in volunteering can do so in the classroom, in the adult program, at fundraisers and with occasional office help. To see how you can make a difference, call 610.777.0605. Monetary and in-kind gifts are also welcomed and appreciated. Visit online at https://johnpauliicenter.org/support-jpii/ways-to-give/ for more info.
- Opportunity House: the nonprofit has been helping the local homeless population since 1984, expanding greatly over time. The emergency shelter served 500 people and 90,000 meals last year alone. Also offered is a childcare and learning center, assistance for veterans, and reuse and recycle services that reinvest funds back into the agency to further support its mission and services. You can help by attending fundraising events, donating items or funds, shopping at the OppShop, by joining a committee or by volunteering your time in another way. For more info visit opphouse.org.
- Your Local School District: Want to help families that may be in need in your immediate area? Connecting with counselors at your local school district is a great place to start. They know which families could use assistance and can point you in the right direction. This could be in the form of providing aid for a family who’s lost their home or household items in a fire, a family with a member experiencing significant medical needs, and the like.
We hope that you’ll share in the true spirit of the season by giving back and we’d love to hear how! Connect with us at 610.223.7102 or online at socialclovermarketing.com.
